David Walliams, original name David Williams was born on 20 August 20 1971 in Banstead, England. He is a comedian, actor, writer, and presenter, who first gained fame with the television show Little Britain, a sketch comedy that he and his frequent collaborator, Matt Lucas, starred in and wrote.
David later became a successful children’s book author with his first book, The Boy in the Dress, published in 2008. The tale of a 12-year-old soccer player who likes to cross-dress combined compassion and gross-out jokes.
David has revolutionised reading for children and become one of the most influential children's writers today.
Since the publication of The Boy in the Dress, David has seen unprecedented growth with global sales exceeding 40 million copies, and his books translated into 53 languages.
