About Us

A 100% locally owned and operated bookstore, located in the heart of Rotorua - 1304 Tutanekai Street, Rotorua, NZ. We offer a range of Fiction, Non Fiction and Childrens' Books together with Magazines, Greeting Cards, Office and School Stationery.

We are also a stockist of NZ Crucci and Woolly ranges of New Zealand wool.

We began our journey in May 2007 when I (Kirsty Evans), returned from overseas and bought the store which at that time was part of a franchise. We went independent in 2016 and have enjoyed the freedom to stock and run the business as we have wished. 

City Books is a family run business. My sister, Raeleen, is my very able assistant. We both love books and were brought up with a love of reading. We can recommend a wide range of authors as between our own families, we have extended family from a young baby through to siblings in their 60s and 70s. 

Over the years we have had the pleasure of hosting a number of authors either instore or at events.
